BAUDL – Pro Debate Tournament…

For all you former debaters out there (if you’re my friend and seeing this website, there’s probably a 20% chance you’re a debater…), the Bay Area Urban Debate League is hosting an open competition, “Pro” debate tournament for ex-debaters, current debaters, government officials, lawyers, whoever, in between CEDA and NDT nationals in Berkeley, CA. The tournament is raising money to support BAUDL programs at inner-city schools in the Bay Area. I volunteered my time to develop and design the site for BAUDL.

1. Working on a social game site. Think futures markets on speed! Should be ready to release in the coming weeks. I got to use Yahoo BOSS (Build your Own Search Service) API for search – which is way easier to use than Google’s API – and without many of the content-use restrictions.

The song titles / artist names are in English; the rest of it is in Russian (in Cyrllic script). This is actually a useful feature since all I want is the download links and it’s easier to scan for them this way.

This is where I first found out about the Proxy (from Moscow) who produced arguably the best remix of 2009.

I found this list in a random Facebook group on SF nightlife… it may have finally solved my problem of not knowing where to eat food and get coffee while doing work in the middle of the night — very few places in San Francisco are open 24/7 (at least compared to NYC). Now if they have wireless internet, I think I’m golden…

…although can you really blame them?  Headline News seems to be produced for middle school kids who have a hard time understanding the board game Risk.

Oh, and thanks to Petey Gil-Montlor from whom I grabbed these images.  Petey and I recently spent several hours watching Trinity Broadcast Network in the midst of a hurricane while stranded in a shitty hotel that had been used to house Katrina refugees outside Houston… all in a failed attempt at converting ourselves to Fundamentalist Christians.
