Chegg.com

Facebook Application

I designed and developed a Facebook Application as part of an online marketing effort to reach college-age customers. The application is a self-sustaining branding effort - trees are donated by the company to give away in the application as a prize (the user picks where the trees get planted); but the traffic and sales generated by click-thrus on the in-app advertising generate more money than the cost of the donations. Company Rebranding

I recruited two summer interns from Stanford University to staff a marketing team leading an effort to increase book rentals at Chegg by better targeting the college age demographic. A new mission statement and logo were drafted for the company, and we re-did the registration flow to allow users to use Facebook Connect to create a Chegg account. Go to Chegg.com »

As part of Ask's outreach toward NASCAR fans, I worked as the development lead on an online radio project for Greg Biffle, a NASCAR driver and host of his own talk show. I implemented an Icecast radio streaming server, created a Flash audio player for listening to the show online, and developed a metrics tool for measuring the number of users listening in. LeeMunson.net - SEO Strategy

The firm's chief investment officer had a few negative articles that came up in search results for his name. In order to clear his reputation online and drive these links from the top of search results pages, I set up a blogsite, syndicated Lee's posts to financial publications such as seekingalpha.com, syndicated Lee's posts to Twitter and Facebook accounts, and trained Portfolio LLC employees to post SEO friendly links and embedded media for all of Lee's appearances on media outlets such as CNBC. In under 6 months, I have succeeded in unseating all but one of the negative search results from the top 10 using organic content alone (no link farms, site reviews, etc.).

Center for Independent Media

Site Optimization... Elections and Visitor Spikes

I was hired as a consultant to optimize the Center for Independent Media's blogs and make sure they stayed online during huge surges of traffic during the 2008 election season. I developed custom plugins for the organization's blogs and trained staff in using publishing and analytics tools.

Expensify

Redesign, rebranding and shiny, new AJAX interface

I was brought on to work as the chief designer and as a front end developer for taking Expensify.com from Beta to version 1.0 launch. I helped re-code the entire application interface in jQuery to use AJAX instead of backend PHP and re-designed the UI. Screenshots are included below. The new site and the old site.
